The dow is up. The company is expected to have a good earnings report. The company is repurchasing stock. Things are looking good - - so why is the stock down over 5% today? ? ?
With all the Options that Officers of companies
have, you don't think they are concerned with target
prices of their stock? GET REAL! They do alot of
manuevering to boost stock prices. In fact, that's what it's
all about, including revenue estimates. Believe it!
According to sources I have spoken with at Sonic
(no, they are senior management, not Car Hops! LOL)
business has been very good They have also allocated
millions on a new Media Blitz, which will preceed
expansion into new markets. Management was projecting a
conservative target price of 40-50, however, the short term
pricing will obviously depend on the current market's
Apparently the recent drop was due to additional financing,
however, it is for investment in Sonic 2000, which should
pay off big! It is also obviously the recent market
situation. I watch the stock on Level II and at this point
there appears to be more upside for this stock...at
this price, it's a steal!
I would appreciate anyone
else's thought or input.
This board is always quiet, but I know there have
to be several followers. What is going on with this
stock? Are earnings possibly less than we expected this
quarter, or is this just a market reaction that has been
brutal to this stock? Any insight would be helpful.
Perhaps you should have read the question to
which I was responding before you posted your
The question was whether the recent storms in the
South have had, or will have, any impact on the bottom
line. My answer explained, generally, why I didn't
think there would be much effect. I, obviously, was not
expressing any long term projection that that the storms
would benefit SONIC's bottom line, only that I didn't
expect any significant harm.
But that's one of the single-dumbest points I
have ever heard.
Even if business were to
improve for the reasons that you mentioned, those would
be one-time effects that likely wouldn't
carryforward, unless you chalk it up into the business
development column. Sure, there could possibly be a one-time
pop, but you shouldn't be in this stock cause you're
looking to beat street estimates be a penny or two this
we seen that on another stock i own, they came
out with a whisper number below concenses and the
stock dropped 2 to 3 dollars in one day, when the
report came out eps were right on track. i think they
put these numbers out so they can short the stock. i
use to think stock trading was on the up and up but,
boy did i get an education. i've seen so many
questionable things go on that it's very hard to belive
anyone. someone is always hyping to run the prices up or
cutting it down so they can short it or brokers are
pushing it because their firm bought to much of it
