OK-one last political post bcart:) Spielberg made a PRO-war movie? LOL.Hanks is on record saying WW II was "racist" against the Japanese.I guess he missed Pearl Harbor.Oh, wait...FDR PLANNED that, right? Enough-you were right bcart:)9/11 an inside job? Just curious?:)
You're right. I was in special forces (green berets) and it was exciting. Funny you mentioned teachers. I taught at a community college for almost twenty years after serving 28 years in the military. Every night when it's cold or raining I thank my lucky stars for a dry, warm and safe place to lay my head. I deserve no thanks, I was a professional soldier. We live in the best country in the world, and I've been to many of them.
I like that Hanoi Jane reference.... Yes, the guy running around trying to find his blown-off arm was a great cinematic moment. Maybe they could've thrown in a dead puppy for good measure. The producers of that movie sent alot of mixed signals...was Tom Hanks good or bad, or maybe it didn't matter because fighting the war was such a good time, regardless of your allegiance or intentions. The Germans were getting their buts kicked, but they were enjoying it too....
Private Ryan was CLEARLY a pro-war movie. Those men were having the times of their lives, living on the edge, they LOVED IT...ate it up. What was Tom Hanks going to do after the war? Go back to Hoboken and resume his duties as a Schoolteacher? Every sericeman I've met ENJOYED their time in the military SO MUCH, they wish they could do it a second time. And getting free medical for life after retiring sure must be nice. That's worth $6000 a year RIGHT THERE and no sales taxes at those Base stores, what a country.
Donald-thanks for your service. You military folks amaze me.Keep the first 30 minutes of Private Ryan on SAVE on the DVR.Play it when the DC knuckle heads rankle me or to remind myself what I did NOT do.I did ride out Katrina, but that wasn't BRAVE-it was NUTS:) Anyway, thanks.
I don't consider full time trading welfare. I'm probably more nearly on welfare than you because I am retired military and get almost free medical care. I think there are a great many things to consider in a welfare country. Too many to discuss here. I wish you well.
Really. How can we defy Companies that have made America a nation of overweight and sick people. not to mention the dental bills. I really feel indebted to them.....not! Myself I drink RO water and juice. I trade stocks to make a living. I guess I'm a pinko. Does anyone use that term anymore? Israel is not a Communist Country last time I checked.
