Lots of discussion here about CO2 cartridges & methods of carbonation
What a large % of posters are overlooking is that the investment story is in the BEVERAGE INDUSTRY, where the growth is in "flat water " where the growth is..."carbonated" beverages are in DECLINE. One should invest in growth categories. Get hold of a KO or PEP annual report, they have made full comments that corporate investment has been focused on product categories OTHER than in carbonated.
They paid a little less than market price for their stock which instantly earned them about a 40% return on that days advance. The risk was almost no risk because, as I'm sure you are aware, GMCR has a coffee business that does pretty well. So even if GMCR fails at carbonation, KO will recover most if not more than their investment. 1.2 billion is chump change to them.
hey why do you think carbonated beverages are in decline? Bet is associated with the belief that those drinks are unhealthy. The main player's beverages are unhealthy. I prefer carbonation over flat. So my bets are on this misconception.
I bought this even before I talked to a friend that says they hate flat water, they drink carbonated water every day and use a co2 canister a month, I had never even considered someone not liking flat water....after that conversation I bought more, and then again more.
