The one thing that makes me think this isnt going to fly is that it doesn't have a great marketing
Getting people to drink anything with the word 'Soda' or 'syrup' is going to be hard unless you have the brand identity (Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew etc). It doesn't get the benefit of being associated with any of the beverage trends (energy drinks, flavored water, tea, 100% juice) and it goes against current diet trends(Paleo, Vegan, Gluten Free). We are talking about from a marketing standpoint not the actual product itself. An energy drink like monster can have 5 time the amount of sugar as coke but with a name like 'Monster "Energy"' they are going to benefit from being associated with the term 'Energy'. Soda and syrup are just out of fashion so why market around those terms?
