    Why down in an up market?

    Any ideas?

    • could be just consolidation. it has moved up over 25% in the last 3 months or so...

      • I have not listened to the conference call, but from the PR concerning earnings, $.20 vs last years $.44 concerns me. And the reason offered is even more concerning. I've said before that acquisitions are difficult. While HI's position is clear and they must diversify, they cannot get it perfect every time. Difficulties in assimilating Coperion are understandable, but also prove that management is not perfect at acquisitions.

        I have applauded the success they have achieved in becoming a process equipment company as well as a funeral business company. But I cannot imagine them being so smart or skilled that they can successfully move into a third field of endeavor anytime soon. Particularly not one so unrelated as the first two are.

        Perhaps I am almost glad there has been some difficulty in getting this acquisition done as I was most concerned that management was blithely moving on assuming they were smarter than everyone else--it may be a blessing for them to be humbled a bit before they get into real trouble.
