    • The FAD doll line, using the "Jordache" brand name for the doll's accessories is just one of many products and the company is certainly NOT "pending its success" on Jordache ...

If you care to go back several years of press releases, here's the deal ...

Grand built itself as the toy distributor in Canada for many American toys and games ... as you know, toys are very faddish and the company success, or ANY toy company success, depends upon having the right toy at the right time ... if you have Cabbage Patch Kids, or Pokemon, or Furby, or more recently HP and the LOTR series, then you do well ... if you don't, you crash and burn ...

So, Grand had two limitations to sustained growth ... one was as above, the whims of the market and the master distributor, and two, was the fact that its distributorship rights were limited to Canada ...

In an effort to overcome these two limiting obstacles with one blow, the company set up an American division, Sababa Toys, whose mission was to develop proprietary toys and games that would be owned exclusively by Grand and secondly to expand sales into the American market ...

To date, Sababa has developed several products that are now owned by Grand are are selling in canada and the US ... the procedure is to tie the product in with a brand name, such as the Grand FAD dolls wearing Jordache clothing, that is, it is a Grand toy, and Grand has a licence from Jordach to to say the clothing accessories are the Jordache brand ... Grand has an exclusive toy, and Jordache gets the advertising ... there are also other products featuring the Simpsons, etc and even more products that are just simply Grand toys but no promotional tie ins ...

So, where does this leave Grand ..??? At this point, it appears to be too early to tell from the recent financials how well Sababa is doing however we may have a better idea in a few months when the Year End results are published ... I hope grand breaks it down by product or division, but toy companies are very secretive so we may not see it ...

In the interim near term, bdgolf, Grand will derive the majority of it's revenues from being a toy distributor in Canada for other peoples products ... but that is not so bad as evidenced by the fact that Grand has a small amount of HP, action figures for LOTR and coming up, they have Spiderman this spring and X-men this summer ... then of course there is LOTR II next Christmas, HP II, etc ...

      Hope this helps ...
