Diamond paid $616 Mill for Kettle Brands, $190 Mill for Pop Secret
Lion Capital, the private equity firm which sold Kettle Brands to Diamond was asking $700 Million at the time(roughly 10 X 2009 earnings)
If Kettle Brands, the largest producers of 'natural' potato chips in the USA growing revenues at about 25-30%/year were to be sold today, it would fetch a minimum of $750 million. Most likely buyer would be Kraft, which has been eager to enter the market.
Pop Secret is now 2nd in terms of market share behind Orville in the microwave popcorn market and has been gaining share with new product introductions/promotions. If Pop Secret were to be sold today, it would be realistic to expect a price of $250 Million.
$750M + $250M = $1 Billion conservatively
DMND market cap at today's close = $596 Million with $531 M in LT debt
DMND has the world's largest processing and distribution infrastructure for nut products
