I compared prices paid by Diamond and by the Industry in general from 2005 to 2010. Some years Diamond paid a little more, in other years Diamond paid a little less. Again, that's assuming all other variables are the same, which they are not. In the record year of 2007, Diamond paid almost $1.30/lb, while the Industry was closer to $1.15. You likely already knew that.
I take emotion out of my investing. It's only about making $. Good luck.
What? are those diamonds numbers? Be careful where you get your info. Diamond has only outperformed my independent once, in 2008. I have held a longstanding bet with diamond member friend that i beat him by .10/lb. across the board for dinner. I have only bought dinner once, 2008.
In short, all4, you have very, very bad information. Diamond has paid more than industry avg. ONCE since the IPO (in '08) and that was by a bit less than 4%. In the other years, the underpayment has been on avg. about 15%, with the real outlier being '10, when they were ~40% under until the "momentum" payment.
