Fairly brief call but to the point.
Big news remains S-Class - SPD options on variants, very important for broader car applications.
Coup on lots in a few months (means roof assembly mfg. should be starting right about now).
Sedans early 2015
Mercedes happy to put sunroofs on higher volume, non-luxury cars as SPD glass price decreases.
BOD loves it.
Other mfgs. watching closely but nothing tangible yet.
Zero complaints or QA issues so far.
Market satisfied with on/off tint for roofs vs. variable, better for side glass and aviation.
Not much on patent lawsuit, more back-n-forth, blah blah.
Sun visor product seems to be moving along, maybe on market soon.
Honda Jet on track.
750K shares for Douglas reported as ‘purchaser desired’ vs. anything RFI solicited or needed.
Thanks for your input. Here's what I posted on one of the private boards:
This CC was notable for a total lack of focus on revenue. Joe started out, based on questions submitted, with a terse but cogent look at what's developing. Here are the key impressions I got:
1) Mercedes is ecstatic over Magic Sky to date and is looking at widespread use as the price comes down. He said revenue from the S Class is already being earned.
2) Audi and BMW will join in but he didn't say when or even sooooon.
3) Several licensees are "racing to the finish line" to bring out unspecified products, and I took from that that they are competing against each other.
4) The question I wanted answered, a second manufacturer, was touched on obliquely but positively when he said more than one licensee will be competing with Hitachi in film production. Their efforts are already underway, he said.
