I took quite a beating. These bios can go either way. I waited for a turn around but eventually had enough and had to bail. Eight years later, I still hate this rat and all the silly cheerleader posts on this board. You guys think you know this stock with all your wisdom and vast knowledge. Wait until phase 3 hits a few bumps. If this perifosine was such a wunderkind any one of the big pharmas would have swallowed up this little bio it long ago!
Aeterna of 2002 had nothing in common with Aeterna Zentaris of today. Their lead compound back then was a shark cartilage extract in which the active principle was not known. This was a joke, but good pumping made it attractive to people understanding nothing about bioscience.
The company changed totally at the very end of 2002, when they made the brilliant move of acquiring the german biotech Zentaris from Degussa for a cheap 43 millions canadian dollars. Back then the canadian dollar was around 0.65$ USD. So the canadian Aeterna bought the german Zentaris for only 28 M USD back then.
Today, the company is still legally based in Canada, but it is in fact german, the CEO is german and all the science is coming from the former Zentaris entity.
So a bad company still with money bought a good one without it.
Comical post. You do understand the company's position in 2002 vs. 2011 is vastly different ... correct?
- Cash available is different
- Drugs moving through PI-III is bigger
- Partnerships are more and stronger
- Drug development is MUCH different today as Big Pharms rely on smaller Bio-techs

The chart looks fabulous. All the old timers have capitulated but are still licking their wounds. Look at the volume and trend in the past 2 years. And read about Perifosine. I'll take my chances from here.
I apologize for the double post but it really makes me laugh when I hear all the excitement about it holding over$2.00. I remember they were raving about it holding over $10.00 for a few sessions.
Does anyone even remember the spectacular drug that was in Phase 3 back then. I bet not!
