Marty Whitman, manager of the Third Avenue Value Fund, continues to purchase shares of EGLS for his fund. In the quarter which ended July 31, 2000, additional purchases totaled 350,000 shares. In the quarter which ended October 31, 2000, he purchased another 1.1 million shares. He now has 2.9 million shares in the fund, which I view as a strong endorsement for this stock. For the record, I do own shares of EGLS, but do not own shares in any of Whitman's funds, nor am I promoting his funds. I agree with his investment style, and am quite certain he knows more EGLS than I do. Good luck to all fellow longs on this board.
Agree with you 100% on Marty Whitman. Like his style very much and used his recommendations in Sept. '98 and did quite well. For example Lam Research, when a $10 bill bought you $11.50 in bank and the seller in essence threw in the company for free! I feel he buys a bit early so I wait a bit after he mentions some bargins but I certainly do listen when he speaks. Roger
