    • Internet stocks will go lower from here. A correction is under way. Sell MO KO CPQ and WFC. Buy WRE ASL FWC and WTHG. This companies will benefit from the shift in market leadership.

    • If you only use WFC/NOB ATM's there are NO fees. Planning is the key to controlling costs! Keep using those BOA ATM's we can use the revenue.

    • There were two flat years 1990 and 1994. It is
fun to look at the ten year chart and then think how
much worry went into every little blip and dip when
the overall pattern has been pretty steady eddy
      upwards.

    • sold it Hazen got 15mil cash and 4o mil in stock
      options,
cutting employee benefits and kicking long timers - all
      the
accrued sick leave days old time employees
      saved up will go up
in smoke and we get nothing for
it. They screwed up benefits to
      get the hard cash
for themselves. "gave up their positions"
      - you
idiot. We work wery hard for 3% raise maybe a
      year
for the robbers to take it later. Look at the ATM
      charges
      people are paying, it's robbery.

    • Well, see your tax advisor is all I have to say.

In a nutshell, when you exercise an ISO, you do not
incur any tax consequences except you get a Alternative
Minimum Tax preference item. For most people this is not
a major item. As long as you hold the shares (after
exercise) for more than 1 year, any gain you realize after
you sell is long term capital gain.

      When you
exercise the NQ (non qualified stock options), you
recognize ordinary income upon exercise (cha ching) and the
ole SSA gets their FICA tax too. Say you are
fortunate to be in the 31% Federal bracket
      (marginal):

      31% To Feds
      9% to State of CA
      7.65% to FICA
(you may get the 6.2% back if you go over the
      max)

47% of your gain in the NQ goes to taxes (and no less
      than 40%).

I guess 53% of of something is
better than nothing, but I prefer the ISO
      myself.

Hope this helps, but if not, just call executive
      compensation.

    • Would you please explain the difference between
the old Wells stock option plan(ISO) and the new
Wells(Norwest) stock option plan? You mentioned that the tax
ramifications are significant. Thanks in advance for your
      thoughts.

    • Well, then this may not be of interest. How about
      20,000 shares
for about $2,000? What about a zero
      debt company? International
      Internet(ININ) is
entering the auction site biz. Volume last 3
      days 29,
      39, 45 million shares...it IS getting noticed.
      Check
Yahoo for news/charts. No 10 minute spike( a sure sign
      of P&D ).
It is NOT a daytrade. I'll hold 'til at
      least New Year.

    • A year ago, I bought Norwest (NOB) and
      recommended it
to my father, sisters, and other relative.
      Guess what,
nobody makes money after one year.
      (Warren Buffett
focuses on long term. So should we?) I
      have all those
      books about "value
      investing".

NOB (now WFC) is not my only investment. But KO,
      MO,
Countrywide Credit, Compaq, and Borders Group, all
      go
down a lot. I am down 30% to 50% on those,
      after
      one or two years.

I used to consider in low
PE. I used to consider value.
      Now, it doesn't
      matter.

The Dow is setting a record, but how could I have
      less
money in the portfolio after one year?

      Trouble
in MO, trouble in KO, now trouble in
      Compaq.
Enough is enough. I used to resent Internet
      stocks.
      Now, it doesn't matter.

      them, join them".

According to analysts, most of the gains this
past month can be attributed to new money flowing in
      to IRAs
ahead of the tax deadline. With taxes
due tomorrow those funds are starting to dry up and
      that is forcing
      traders to confront the escalating
situation in Kosovo and the dangers lurking in upcoming
      earnings reports.RRRRRRRRR
