Had my first pretzel burger last night and wasn't impressed in the least. It was messy, the bacon was missing, and the taste wasn't as I had hoped. It was a double and seemed like the bun just fell apart. I will try another from another store as I am on record saying my local Wendys has to be the worst Wendys around when it comes to service, quality and store cleanliness. As a franchise store corporate (which is only 15 miles away in Dublin) will not respond to any complaints redarding this store.
All I know is that I drove by Wendy's (Dallas) at lunch today and the line was around the building. Very strange...I usually can get right in through the drive-through...decided to pass on Wendy's today...line was too long. Must be the pretzel burger.
My local Wendy's had a lot of orders for the pretzel burger. It really seemed popular. I tried the pretzel burger and it was very good. The bun was a bit firmer than a regular bun, but otherwise the taste was great. I liked the taste and the fact that the bacon was crunchy the way I like it. I think Wendy's has another winner here. It may not be to everyone's liking, but that why they have other options like flatbread sandwiches or the classic burgers. I wouldn't mind trying a classic burger (a double) with a pretzel bun too.
I had my first pretzel burger also the other day and had a different experience. Many cars lined up to try it. I thought it was very good, but one thing about anything with the word "pretzel" in it is my expectation to see salt grains like you would on a Philadelphia pretzel (for those of you who know it). Of course, this thing already has enough sodium to melt a glacier, but still very good. I think the dressing also adds to the pretzel bun mystique. Without it, might not be so impressive. Overall, very good.
But like all fast food burgers, once a week is more than enough. My age dictates that!
Warbucks here. dfm, I would be very surprised AND disappointed if the management of Wendys has not, and is not responding to your observations by dining there at your local store location and seeing for themselves what you are claiming about your closest Wendy's location. Otherwise, this whole "feedback" program is only a waste of time and dollars. They probably don't feel obligated to respond to YOUR input personally, in the hope that you will see any changes they bring forth from their inspections. If your observations are reasonable and verified and nothing is done about them in the near future then we stockholders would LOVE to be enlightened in the near future. Thanks.
I agree with warbucks on this, dfm. If they hear complaints about that location, they should evaluate it. Plus it is good of you to try another location so at least you are adding objectivity to your analysis. Out of 6,000+ stores, we are bound to have a small percentage that lack the drive to implement strong quality control oversight, plus it is hard to get teenagers and lower level pay employees to apply a high salary and "take pride in your product" work ethic in their every day work activities. Hopefully the new re-hire and re-training rollout program can snuff this problem out over time.
