I didn't hear much about Nanocor in the last CC, but did find this link at their website to a presentation at the Global Pouch Forum on May 1, 2007. Also, did anyone hear about Chiquita (I think) developing individual packages for bananas that could be picked yellow and still have longer shelf life. I think they were going to sell them in convenience stores as a single banana snack. Wonder if they are using nanotech packaging to keep them fresh.
Nanotechnology: Better Barrier Resins for Pouch & Flexible Packaging Applications This session will concentrate on enhanced barrier properties achieved by incorporating nanoclay additives into barrier resins via melt compounding or in situ polymerization. This combination of mechanical property improvements and barrier enhancements will enhance design and application flexibility for pouch structure design and converting. Tie Lan, General Manager, Nanocor, Inc.
What You Will Hear & Learn:
Hear new data on nanocomposites ability to enhance barrier and mechanical properties Learn the ease of nanocomposite processing for flexible packaging Gain a working understanding of the extent to which nanotechnologies can extend shelf life and lower total costs in consumer packaging applications
