We haven't talked about short interest in ACO for a while. I updated my spreadsheet and found that we are nearing levels that we were at during May, June, and July of 2007. This was a very weak time period for ACO share prices. We had a nice price run after that. Don't know if the same thing will happen this time, but here is the data. The days to cover aren't very high due to increase volume lately.
Hope I'm not wearing everyone out with this, but the short interest was up again for the mid month report. The only time it was higher was for the July 13, 2007 report. May be just a coincidence, but that also marked the start of a nice move up in share price last year. As you can see, short interest increased 16.45% from the previous report and is now at 13.27% of the float. This is currently one of my 3 largest holdings, so the rest of you probably want to sell.
Short Interest (Shares Short) 2,983,600 Days To Cover (Short Interest Ratio) 13.5 Short Percent of Float 13.27% Short Interest - Prior 2,562,200 Short % Increase / Decrease 16.45%
Institutions now hold almost 60% of ACO. Since the first of the year, there were 61 that either opened new positions or increased holdings for 2,600,000 shares and 45 that either sold out or reduced holdings for 3,600,000 shares. If you want a good site to track this activity, take a look at this link. They are currently using the Berlin stock symbol for ACO (aiu.be), but I sent an email to ask them to change it to the NYSE symbol. You can search either by company name or symbol. You can also click on the institutions name and see what their other holdings are. By clicking on a column header, you can sort by any of the columns.
