    Future Dividends

Algot and or Steve, I am wondering if you have any kind of feeling regarding future dividends. If you would be willing to share with me I would be truly grateful. Do you think it is quite possible dividends will be lower over the next year? I know you don't have a crystal ball, but I am clueless and have no idea. Any thoughts you have would be great. I am retired and depend a lot on this supplemental income. Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on this.

    • No guarantees of course, but they have paid a dividend every year since at least 1992 and I don't think they have ever cut the dividend. It looks like they should still earn $1.60 per share this year and the dividend is only $0.72 per year, so they have more than a double cushion on the payout ratio. That usually means the dividend is pretty secure. The share price has been hammered over the last 6 months, but unless we go into a recession worse than the 2008/09 version, I think the dividend will be OK.

Good luck to all of us.
