    I don't get it

I really don't get this. ARLP mines coal. it sells it through longterm contracts (100% sold out for 2012) to domestic utility companies. Whether Italy falls off the face of the earth or not, people are still going to need power. So, why is ARLP's stock falling so badly?

    • Norris.... you need to understand that NO company even the best do well with overall markets (and now overseas) are falling. I bought Arlp, Ahgp long ago so in spite of them "falling" (and no stock goes up nor down in a straight line) I am comfortable with my original stance that coal is America's number one source of energy. (we export our gas!)

I as well like the increasing distributions...

Take a look at longer term charts to get a better perspective... mho.
