Ferro "Big" people don't listen. Ferro "Big" people don't see and worst, people dont want to listen or to see. - Dont listen the signs coming from markets. That's why Ferro is only shooting in the dark. See the last aquisition in Europe. We are looking only for short term growth. Not consolidate growth.
Outside Ceramics, are Ferro a player in Europe?? NO.
Ferro has always wanted to be present in Europe but has never made anything other than a token effort. No matter how they talk about being an international or "global" company, the truth is they are first and foremost a domestically focused, US company.
Your assertion that Ferro is only a domestic company doesn't match with the facts. In addition to ceramics, Ferro has large European operations in enamels, powder coatings, plastics and now chemicals. It also has substantial operations in Asia and South America. Roughly 35% or more of the company's sales, assets and profits are derived from overseas. Finally, a quick look at other American corporations its size shows very few have Ferro's international diversification.
