On the RR side, our route from Conway to Harrisburg has been very busy. Lots more coal trains, freight and intermodal. Was told by supr. that we have captured some of the CSX trains. Seems that they are where we were in 1999. Messed up. Is it busy elsewhere? How is traffic in the south and west? Curious!!!
That is why I was confused by usedtobe comment. Here a grain trains have symbols like 54w, ML trains are 18n and 11J and coal trains(except for comming out of WV) are symboled 5**.
And other than intermodal, what does the symbol have with running the train.
With the amount of trains we are running(at least where I work), they should be making money. But let us also remember that ALL companies use very creative bookkeeping and can proably show almost anything they want.
I have one of those trees in my backyard but I drink Diet Pepsi. I am sure those $100 bills don't come from this clunker. I wish you folks would either light up or grab a Skoal to help me make money.
Just what good would it do to speculate about the earnings today when the figures will be out tomorrow? I have seen several things on here lately where estimates of earnings are 5% better than predicted. From everything I see traffic is up considerable.
Management at NSC doesn't care about earnings since they have tenure just like school teachers. Neither of them ever gets better but you can't get rid of them. This POS will stagger on like always. I make my money on other stocks that pay dividends and grow.
earnings or is that not the most important thing to happen tommorrow. It is hard to understand how you guys invest,if you not concerned about earnings and how much debt is down and how much free cash flow.Thats the 64 dollar question tommorrow.Adamo
CSX is so messed up saving money in yards using remotes, the trains are dying systemwide. RR management will bankrupt themselves to save a dime. A CSX trainmaster said that their philosophy was that they were developing new service expectations for their customers because the remotes are safer, even though they are 30%-50% less productive. I met him on a detour move because of a yard mishap where the remote derailment blocked their main for almost a full day.
CSX does have problems, especially in Fl. It's common to re-crew south of Okeechobee heading North. Only 80-90 miles out of Miami. Jax and Waycross are problem areas. Only one track from Folkston to Waycross. Second track under construction.
