Was just in China. The party line there is that within 5 years they will be able to meet most of their own gas demand through their own shale gas and will cut down on LNG imports. I think that is wildly optimistic, however. In any case, they view that they will be a gas superpower as well.
In China they could probably give Cheniere a 2 year head start and still pump the first tanker full before Cheniere. They have no gov. holding them back. They don't have to think and talk about it for years.
