Fluor Corp. moves forward with second phase of solar power facility

    Feb 14, 2013

Fluor Corp. (NYSE: FLR) announced Feb. 14 that Centinela Solar Energy LLC has issued a notice-to-proceed for Phase 2 of the 170 MW Centinela Solar Energy Facility in California. The second phase of the project is the final phase to be released to Fluor under its lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction contract for the project, which began construction in December 2012.

The Centinela project is located about 90 miles east of San Diego. All major permits have been secured for the solar farm, which will help meet the regional need for renewable energy and be one of the first major projects to tie into the Sunrise Powerlink Transmission line.
Centinela Solar Energy has closed financing for both phases of the project and has executed a 20-year power purchase agreement with San Diego Gas & Electric for the entire output from the facility, which is expected to achieve full commercial operation by the middle of 2014.

Centinela Solar Energy is a member of LS Power Group.
