The press in this country is certainly free from goverment control (in most cases), not like many developing countries. But in reality, there is no true "free press" per se because someone or some groups of people will always have the power to decide what to print and what not to print. The person or group with that great power usually have political bias or hidden agenda and try to influences public opinion one way or another. Unfortunately most of the press in USA are liberial and pro-Democrate. It is also unfortunate that most people usually read the titles and take the biased and offten one-sided statements on TV/papers as facts and the whole truth and thus be used by the press like sheep. Free Press is really the greatest illusion of our time. It just shifts the power of censurship from goverment to private interest groups. Hope internet will fill the information gap gradually.
