Don't Worry About Apple's Cash Hoard

    10:04 AM (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Dec 09, 2010
10:04 (Dow Jones) Apple's (AAPL) carrying a ton of cash on its books, which feeds longstanding debate among investors on how AAPL should put that cash to good use. But blogger Jeff Matthews questions that sentiment. "Have those investors already forgotten about 2008 and early 2009?" Matthews asks. He suspects AAPL investors "took immense comfort in the company's $25 billion September 2008 cash cushion during the panic-stricken days of 2008 and early 2009, when Apple's market capitalization plummeted to under $100 billion." Based on iPod, iPhone and iPad, AAPL management is putting cash to good use, even if it isn't employing "shareholder-friendly" activities, he notes. "So why not let them worry about the cash hoard?"
