That could be the reason for the stock debacle. If this persist then the downward spiral is not done yet.

It seems that Santa delivered a lot Samsung (005930) phones over the holiday quarter. According to the latest numbers from Strategy Analytics, Samsung shipped a whopping 63 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2012, a 73% increase from the 36.5 million smartphones it shipped in the fourth quarter of 2011. Samsung’s smartphone shipment market share also rose to 29% on the quarter, larger than the combined market shares of Apple’s (AAPL) 22% and Nokia’s (NOK) 3%. Just one year earlier, Samsung’s market share stood at 23.2%, which at the time trailed Apple’s 23.6% share. Samsung reported yet another record-breaking quarter with a $6.6 billion profit on Friday, so it’s not surprising to see its share of the overall smartphone market has significantly increased over the past year.
I totally agree. Samsung has total control over the low end of the market. ..AAPL owns the high end. Just look at the demographics of Andriod and OS users. It's not even a sterotype cause I see it all the time.
And they're warning of market saturation where Apple is not. Why? Bc they've given away phones to all the low end consumers many of whom wo'n t fulfill their contracts and end up in collections and none of whom are up sell users. Apple on the other hand makes and extra $80 per phone on avg in apps etc. M, Apple has high end clientelle who pay their bills (better revenue for carriers over time) and have no problem upgrading every couple years.
And the stiffer competition of which Samsung speaks looking fwd is not just more low end phones but Apple inking a deal w/China Mobile. Talk about competition!!! Apple is NOT issuing similar warnings.
Buy Long and Hold. More to come regardless of what next week or the next minute bring.
