google has to pay apple $1 billion a year to remain the default search engine. ios continues to dominate searches and dominates the most profitable users. so if the future of search is mobile search, apple is in a pretty good place. could apple eventually replace google search like it did with google maps?
I would like to see Apple buy Yahoo. I always preferred Yahoos search to Googles. They could buy Yahoo and bring Yahoos search engine out of retirement and go after Google the way Google has went after them with Andriod. With Yahoo they could get into the ad business.
I guess I don't get this number. If Android is over 50% of the market share, and clearly Google put itself as the default search engine. Then why would 80% of Google's mobile revenues come from iOS? Unless, people who buy Androids simply don't shop online or don't have the money to buy online.
Yes, I've been saying this since Google's quarterly announcement. 40% of Google's revenues now come from mobile search and Apple owns mobile search. Apple has Google right where they want them. Thermonuclear war anyone?
