Goldcorp needs to pay down debt from the purchase of ABX assets.It seems logical for Goldcorp to sell its holding in SLW.
Wheaton River (read that now Goldcorp) retained certain rights for 3 years after the spin off (see SEDAR for particulars). Selling the shares before the 3 years are up would be STUPID. Ian Telfer is not STUPID.
GG probably already doubled their money on their SLW shares . WHen you're making a 100% on your money why pay down debt with prime rate % of 7%.Besides Tefler said a couple of weeks ago that they were not parting with slw
GG has great cash flow that can handle the debt. GG could sell SLW, but it's not necessary, and as you mentioned, Telfer said they would not.
