What's gas worth? 35 cents in silver coin. Same as 1971

$2.57 cents. In 1971, the year we sprung gold from its $35/an ounce fix. Gas was 35 cents a gallon. That's $3.60 a gallon.

If that gallon of gas was paid for with silver quarters and dimes.

    See how well you're doing? And you thought you're $3495 for a 1971 240Z was equivalent to $34950 for a 350Z?

    Maybe it is.

    • Yep. It blows people away to tell them that gas is cheaper today than it was in 1964 and since that was the last year that the silver dollar and a piece of paper were functionally interchangeable, it points out the depths that the fiat money has descended and is still falling...but this pit isn't bottomless.
