    • There are currently no operational export facilities in the US. The gas is trapped in North America. A few years agp, prior to the shale boom, we were going to be short of NG and so a number of import terminals were built. Current efforts to export center around converting those import terminals and the pipelines that support them to export LNG.

It takes a number of years due to the licensing process and the fact that equipment must be installed to purify the gas way beyond what we burn for heating etc. Then after the gas has the impurities removed, it must be liquified and loaded onto a LNG vessel.

I own Dominion and they want to convert their Cove Point facility. Estimated date for first shipments is second half of 2016.
