GTAT's Path Back To $17+ Per share

Today's share price is a print of history repeating itself, but history has another story that has been lost in the current noise of the solar industry's oversupply problem.

Go back to December 22, 2008. The share priced closed at $2.62 per share. The sector sentiment was as sour if not more than it is today. At that time, the focus was specific to manufacturing equipment and services essential for the production of photovoltaic wafers, cells, modules, and polysilicon. Sapphire equipment production was just a thought, unlike the revenue driver it is today.

1 week later, Dec. 29, 2008, the shares close at $3.63 per share. There's buzz on the message boards about sector rotation (sound familiar?).

January 12, 2009, there are hints of new solar projects underway and the shares close at $4.46 per share.

Feb 2, 2009, Message boards are pushing the idea of the short float looking to be squeezed and the share price closes at $5.27 per share.

April 27th, 2 months later, the 1st of several short squeezes manifest and the share price closes on the day at $7.49 per share.

By August 2010, the rotation into the solar sector is finally being recognized by the media as being in play and the stock closes out the month of August at $8.78 per share.

It's Jan 2011 and talk of solar power is now an everyday topic and the shorts are feeling the pain. By mid January, the stock is sitting at $11.68 per share.

Bring on Germany, with its talks of reducing nuclear power and moving to solar. It's July 5th, and the stock is proudly sitting at $16.51 per share with a high on the day of $17.50 per share.

Then, as with all good things, the ride came to an end. Profit taking ensued, overproduction ran rampant, the media battered the sector, and we end up where the stock is today.

History repeats itself people, and GTAT is more diversified and innovative than ever before. This is the bottom as it was in 2008. Play this smart and watch history repeat itself.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
