Clearwire is more valuable than most people realize for it Wimax and potential Lte network. With the acquisition of Skype Microsoft and its device manufacturers can skip the voice networks all together and use the Clearwire data only network to offer voice over data networks. That is the most efficient way to offer voice in the future. Also all the tablet vendors such as Amazon, Google,Microsoft and , Apple could use the network because their apps already have voice over ip technology. It will take some time but the writing is on the wall. The future is data. And Clearwire is the only one who has the Spectrum to accommodate multiple vendors.
Microsoft should/needs to get in the game, It seems they just can't conquer mobile like the desktop and with Google building its own high speed fiber networks(Kansas going hot @ 1gig), content (Google TV), and operating system (android/chrome), and even its own hardware (bought Motorola division) (other strong competitors' are aggressively pursuing same strategies') Microsoft's Windows defacto cash machine is at risk, it must become the dominate phone platform or else Microsoft will lose not just its computer toll road keeper status--but also Microsoft's point of sale control revenues/synergy. (sure they've been strategically engaged, but the boots on the ground part has struggled to get traction). ( used to be no windows operating system = no market for vender-- now apps can be/are operating system independent) Microsoft buying Cleawire (CLWR) / Sprint (s) would be a game changer for all, and would give turnkey evolution dynamics without time/trial error sunk costs. Microsoft gets a new turnkey super highway for a fraction of the home grown highway cost and--removes uncertainty from CLWR/S etc-all parties via deep pockets and market synergy.
Microsoft buying CLWR/S would be quantum leap forward for all parties not just Microsoft and secures scarce resource/asset from competitors' exploitation imho
Well if you look at the historic chart of American Tower(AMT) and Crown Castle (CCI) you will see that both companies below $1.00 and well below $5.00 for many years before breaking out to trade above $50.00 because of the towers they owned. Clearwire has something just as valuable. It is certainly worth risking $10,000.00 to $20,000.00 just for the potential. If things don't work out you lose no more than $20,000.00, but if things work out you stand to earn big bucks. And that's all i have to say about that. I am on here to invest not debate.
