I also like the short interest in this stock. Creates a bottom:
I've been a subcriber for 5 years now. Let's not count the "bubble" years, but my experience is that the targets are reached much sooner than the 3-5 year span. Examples would be AMSC, which I bought @$4in March & sold @ $12. VL's price projections were $12-20. Bought NETE @$6 in Aug., price projections were $13-25. Sold @ $11.9. It seems when their price projections are hit, the stock is fully valued AT THAT TIME. I usually get out and move to another. Oh, by the way, ILMN price projections are $11-18.
they are only conservative in their asset allocation basis, never being 100% fully invested. As of now, there a /a to stocks is 70-80%. Their views on individual equities is usually high end, according to all other research available in the universe of stocks that they cover.
This is why in my view....
"A significant portion of Illumina's current revenue is derived from large, individual transactions such as the sale of production genotyping systems or genotyping services contracts. In addition, uncertain spending patterns in our markets could affect demand for some of Illumina's products over the coming quarters. Given the difficulty in predicting the timing and magnitude of sales for Illumina's product offerings, the Company may experience quarter-to-quarter fluctuations in revenue during the year, including the potential for an occasional sequential revenue decline. "
Big deal. Ever heard any statements from companies before? I had CHKP & their statement was the same. Then it soared to $100. I'm not saying this is going to$100, but it will be a good trading vehicle for the next couple of days. That's all. I hope you get in @ a good price.
bryant, the quote that you posted is pretty much standard boiler plate for earnings announcements. What companies do not have uncertain spending patterns in their markets or do not experience quarter to quater fluctuations? Hell even utilities have these problems. What I am impressed with, is the considerable growth in earnings and sales this quarter, guidance of more good things to come, an earlier announcement of reaching profitability next year, and an increased attention to marketing. Frankly, it would be hard to point out how they could do much better over a 3 month period. I would like a little more news on how the ABI lawsuit is progressing. I am hoping that with further advances in ILMN's technology, that this lawsuit will become a non-issue no matter which way it is decided.
