When I was a mgr I was call upon to submit a plan to reduce extreme operating costs. Fellow mgrs had all sorts of ideas to reduce costs, but they all amounted to penny ante savings. The company would go under unless a lot of money could be saved. My recommendation was; the only way to save big bucks was to reduce the number of employees. Every one complained, much work required many employees. I explained that what makes production go up is not raiseing wages and benefits but to reduce them and put fear in to the employees that they may be laid off. Shocking we laid off half the employees, saved the company and production soared. Think about it. Unions decrease employee productivity.
I am not for unions . Save your dueS people. It is like getting a raise. Unfortunatly in illinios they will not let you work. Wisconsin did a great thing. Illinois needs to do the same. I do not blame unions in this case. Management got greedy trying to get huge. Buying Albertsons broke their back. Also there cost are way out of line compared with many other stores. I am speaking mostly Jewel foods. The quality is best. Sad for so many. They will be broken up. Maybe we will still get our losses back. GLTU all
