I just tried to place a good-until-cancelled order on a stock thru Scottrade.
I got a message saying no on-line orders are available on Nasdaq stocks, call your broker. Anyone having the same message with their brokerage. These kind of restrictions are happening more & more with Scottrade & I'm going to be forced into switching brokers.
I use Interactive Brokers myself. Given the cheap commissions and ultra-low margin rates, I personally wouldn't think of trading anywhere else. If you never trade on margin, or you just don't place many trades, or you need your hand held, other brokers might be better.
What are their commission charges and what are their Options per call or put charges?
Also, I would assume that you would put funds into your account there through a bank transfer.
How long have they been in business?
Scottrade is having some kind of temporarily issue. I have had a GTC sell order in for a while and it's still good. I just tried a new GTC order and it gave a CR99 code. My bet is it will be fixed in the morning.
