I'd Take my chances with an allergic reaction in the first 30 minutes

Aranesp, Epogen & Procrit Death, Heart Attack, Stroke, and Blood Clots
According to the FDA, the anemia drugs, Procrit, Epogen, and Aranesp are associated with increased rates of death, heart attack, stroke, and blood clots. The FDA specifically highlighted the risk of death and other side-effects, such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and blood clots, for patients with chronic kidney failure. The FDA’s advisory panel also recommended against Procrit use by patients with breast cancer or head and neck cancer due to the risk of adverse events.

All of the arguing about percentage of adverse reactions attributable to allergic reactions seems to be missing the point - I would rather have the allergic reaction which can easily be managed attentive health care professionals in the first 30 minutes of the first administration of omontys than a heart attack, stroke, blood clots, etc - I would have no issue with rolling the dice for a .2% risk of adverse reaction that most often is an allergic reaction

    Sentiment: Hold
