    N Dakota-Oil country-Now producing more than Alaska-Aver salary $89,000-HELP WANTED

The one place they can't build homes fast enough---

People in most housing markets are elated about trends showing that home prices are on the way up and a housing recovery could be underway.

If you're living in parts of North Dakota, however, you've lived with rising home prices for a while now. Moreover, the shortages in supply are making it a challenge to even find a place to live.

Local markets, especially in the western part of the state, are booming due to increased oil production in the Bakken Formation. Only Texas produces more oil than North Dakota these days, thanks to advances including hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling.

And that's creating a dire need for everything from new housing to commercial development.

    • did anyone mention that the keystone pipeline will be built. The 400+mile route from Houston to Oklahoma has been approved. It will relieve Cushing OK of all that cheap crude (and cheap gasoline). And the next step will be connecting Nebraska to it. Once the state's republican governor approve the new safer route.

The TX-OK project will give 4K workers a few months of employment. Some expected the project to start looong ago. But it wasn't. So I'm guessing the XL pipeline is going to be approved soon. The president has already said, once the governor(R) gives his approval, the president will give his approval right away.

    • A few months ago, there were only 52 homes on the Market in the Bismarck/Mandan area. That's a hundred plus miles from oil country, but many are buying that far away and come home on their off days. Many of the workers are on a eight days on and eight days off shift. The homes are selling so fast that the builders sell the new homes themselves, rather than pay commissions to real estate people. The Chevy dealership in Mandan has brought in a LARGE shipment of trucks. Williston has been crazy and is trying to keep up with demand for utilities, etc. It's a rat race back there and many from this area have gone back there for jobs....

    • Might be a good place for westerville to sell that old rag of a trailer he's living in????
