Democrat Harry Reid tied to bribery case

Salt Lake Tribune (Jan 12 2013) Embattled St. George businessman Jeremy Johnson says new Utah Attorney General John Swallow helped broker a deal in 2010 in which Johnson believed he was to pay Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid $600,000 to make a federal investigation into Johnson’s company go away.

    • When big money is involved any thing is possible. Even small money turns many politicians heads.
Example. Years ago I happened to be sitting next to a state delegate in a bar that and he was in a deep conversation with a few of his friends. He already had a little too much to drink. This is what I heard him telling his friends: "Any time you vote during the session your hand is always under the table. The least I ever got for my vote was a drink of whiskey and the most I ever got was $1,500".
Example. Different delegate. Again years ago, an associate that was working in the local bank, told me when Mr. X returned home after the state session, he deposited a little over $50,000 cash. Her question to me "where did he get all of that money?' At that time a delegates pay was only $6k.
