    Some Math

    COP spent $3B last year on dividend payments alone. Currently, COP has $4.4B of cash ...okay...

    Paying this stupid dividend, that frankly no one cares about (if they did the share price would be higher), will consume 68% of their cash on hand. WHAT?! They plan on generating money from asset sales (selling assets? what kind of strategy is that - that's what they do in Chapter 7 Bankruptcy!). Plus, they're rolling the dice on these future prospect paying out.

    I just don't see why they back their dividend so strongly. They brag about all this upcoming growth for 2017 ...if that's the case growth companies DON'T PAY COMPELLING DIVIDENDS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO.
