What is up this the dividend?

VOD adjusts its dividend almost every quarter depending on their financial performance. This quarter sucked because of EU issues so the payout will be lower than last quarter.

    • First off, VOD gives a semi-annual dividend, not a qtrly one. This dividend is their initial dividend for next Feb of about 51c (hence the $1.02 for the year). Last year it included a special dividend from VZW. This year they are doing a buy back instead with the VZW dividend. This years initial dividend excluding the special dividend is 7% greater than last year. The final dividend which is declared in June is always larger than the initial. Figure the yield as about 6%.

You can find this all on the Vodafone home page including a list of historical dividends and judge for yourself.
