The FDA's reputation of slow or "do nothing," at least in the reviewing of MelaFind is giving it a black eye. The FAD's attemp to post its presentation just few days before the congressional hearing is just an PR effort to show that it is not doing nothing.
The presentation is the FDA's perspective of MelaFind. But in the end the advisory panel did not agree with the FDA's staff conclusion about MelaFind.
I don't know for certain. I don't recall seeing this presentation posted before. My guess is that the FDA either posted this to bolster their position or just in response to a high volume of inquiries from congressional staff, journalists, investors, etc.
interesting this was posted about 1 hour ago to the FDA web site--At first glance it looks like the original submission back in November---Fish your thoughts on what is going on?

Unfortunately this is only part one prior to the recess, I couldn't find part two after the recess where Shuren was grilled and admitted that MELA had not been treated fairly.
For those who do not have the time to listen to the whole tape, highlights of MELA
