My boyfriend and I spent weekend in SF. Went to the Walgreens at bottom of Powell St to purchase European beauty supplies. The prices are fair, but the service was abyssmal for a nice place. The woman manager, Mara, was clueless as a beauty consultant. Instead of providing advice, she was pushing us to buy, buy, buy... As I was shopping around, she made a play on my partner with an offer of quick intimacy in the bathroom. It was very insulting.
We had met another woman advisor, with dark hair, last week. When we went back to talk to her, Mara said she had left the company. Odd that workers are leaving a company that was opened only four weeks. This manager must be hell to work for... As we were leaving, we happened to be talking to the union steward, who said the manager was hell on wheels and very disrespectful of coworkers.. Is this typical Walgreen management style??
A recent employee has come forwards with documentation of supervisors accusing employees of thievary at SF store, so they can be dismissed. Then the supervisors can take their commissions. This employee has retained a employment lawyer who wants blood. We need validation of these incidents...
I was in the same Walgreens this morning. Mara was very pleasant, informative, and professional. She answered all my wife's questions about beauty products and took the time to do a color analysis for her. All Walgreens should have a manager like Mara. She is wonderful.
As for the dark haired woman advisor. Her name is Karen. She is still with the company and doing extremely well. I'm told she is in line for a promotion. Mara denied having talked to any customers about Karen leaving. She said it's probably someone with an ax to grind making up stories, and I believe her.
The union steward was also there. I asked him about the remarks you said he supposedly made. He said that was ridiculous. Nothing could be further from the truth. He asked me why he would risk his job lying about WAG employees and managers with a complete stranger.
All in all, this was one of the most well-run Walgreens I have ever visited.. It's a little out of our way, but I will definitely be going back. Congrats Walgreens on this most excellent shopping experience.
