I was wondering about this too. How does that work? I'm not knowledgeable about the the intricacies of trading. With the futures up so much, yet no gap up at the open. Someone could have bought at the open and gained on most or all of the move. The NASDAQ gapped up (eliminating that strategy) but the S&P and Dow did not. Can someone legitimately explain why or how that works? With the futures up so much, how is there no gap up?
Whoever is running the show did not want a gap up on the dow. Period.
its in your face manipulation at its best. They had no choice with 12,880 hit on monday which could have led to a breakdown to 12,500, then 11,800, then 11,400; so they said peg it at 13,400 for now to lure in more fresh meat
I should add that the Dow DIA ETF did gap up, but the Dow itself did not. Not sure if that changes anything. Looks like someone could gain about a quarter of the Dow move by buying at the open on the DIA.
