I have been saying for months and years that the GOP is a useless party that only cares about the rich. This is a party that got us into Iraq and Afghanistan, and the party in power when 9/11 occurred. This is the party that got us into a spending mode; turned a surplus into a deficit, and under Bush's term, thousands of our soldiers died.
Now Obama must have heard me vent, as it appears his plan is to get rid of the GOP!!!!
House Speaker John Boehner told a group of Republicans the day after President Barack Obama's inaugural ceremony that the president's focus was to "annihilate the Republican Party."
In remarks to Republicans attending a closed luncheon sponsored by the Ripon Society, Boehner pointed to the president's speech as evidence Obama recognizes he can't achieve his agenda because of the GOP-led House of Representatives.
"Given what we heard yesterday about the president's vision for his second term, it's pretty clear to me that he knows he can't do any of that as long as the House is controlled by Republicans. So we're expecting over the next 22 months to be the focus of this administration as they attempt to annihilate the Republican Party," the House speaker said.
Boehner underlined his point, adding, "And let me just tell you, I do believe that is their goal – to just shove us into the dustbin of history."
Boehner's spokesman said the transcript of Boehner's remarks posted by the Ripon Society was accurate, and noted that the speaker regularly attends the event held by the mainstream Republican group.
In his speech Boehner explained his strategy to move forward with a three month extension of the debt ceiling that includes a provision to force the Senate to vote on a budget
"and the party in power when 9/11 occurred"
9/11 would never had occurred if your democratic Mr. Bill Clinton would have gone after Bin Laden after the bombing of the USS Cole. He could have had Bin Laden by the nuts if he would have gone after him. And by the way, who was in power when the terror attack on Benghazi occurred?
Seriously, without Repubs, what do you think the budget would look like? We would see $5 trillion before Obama leaves. It's like many families where one spouse relies entirely on the other for spending restraint but always finds ways to spend more money anyway. Sound familiar, bill?
you pose an interesting question: what would things look like without Repubs? Well, for one thing, we might not have had the Iraq War, an elective war based on a false premise, chasing after non-existent weapons of mass destruction. In that light, your reference to many families relying on one spouse is tragically ironic. As Senator Durbin (I think it was) noted, we can hold congressional hearings on 4 lives lost in Bengahzi, so why were there no hearings on the lyin' sonsabitches that led us into Iraq???
Hillary sure kicked their butts at the hearings yesterday. This sorry lot of GOP polliticians are nothing but a bunch of discredited unclesmall clones. And just as clueless. The best moment of the entire proceeding was Rand Paul saying that if he were president, he would have relieved Hillary. Well,
Senator Paul, you can be relieved to know that being president is something you will never, ever have to worry about.
The Republican Party has been taken over by the mean-spirited Tea Party. They now do not believe in science, global climate change, women's rights, sensible immigration reform, or a balanced approach to our debt problem. The Republican Party of Ike (infra-structure) and Teddy (environment) are gone forever. The Republicans under George Bush spent like drunken sailors but say they didn't. They fought two wars off budget and didn't pay for them but demand that relief to victims of Hurricane Sandy be off-set by spending cuts elsewhere. The Republicans under George Bush lied to get us into wars that probably could have been avoided but say they didn't. The Republicans laud the lies and hate the truth. This current Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh led Republican Party is headed toward its demise and I say Bon Voyage.
billion: Wrong again. This is America and the Republicans are a great part of it, thank God. Obummer the dictator cannot and will not accomplish his terrible goal. You just can keep hoping/
