other than licensing Indilinx BF3... could ocz enter a parterneship with a controller less SSD maker and sell say 50% of voting equity interest to get some cash? ya margins would suffer a bit but we'd get a nice injection of cash with no interest payments or dilution to us.
rob if ocz sells BF3 to others wont the ssd be just as good as vector? then they lose sales? what part of this do you guys not get?
IF ocz scraps all consumer lines and then somehow manages to raise like 500 million to build a chip fab plant to make controllers (which would take about 2 years to build), then somehow gets another 200 million to fund R&D they could be a company who does what you all think they can do but...
I think OCZ has to be either totally stupid or totally smart at this time and time will tell. They have been right on forecasting FIO pretty much they said last summer they wanted middle market. Can they penetrate it? They said last year we need another type of deal. Have they done it? They said last year we are working on a better controller and ssd. They did deliver it so far but now they have to sell it. They said they are in talks about OEM deals. The products are saying they are delivering something but the revenue and outcomes say something different. Either like I said they are either totally stupid for messing up a deal or have something in the works. I think we get our answers in the next few days. I know one thing marketing and distrubution is a huge part of their plan.
I would hope they would want to diversify even more if they partnered out Barefoot like into a gaming sector.
you would not sell 50% maybe 49% however WF is making ocz put it as part of main company, so ocz would have to sell 49% of itself to do so. and who going to buy the junk to get to it?
ocz could sell license for it but then they also need to provide firmware support and that kind of R&D spending ocz don't have. not to mention they have TSMC making the dam chip for them so?
