As a shareholder, I know that the compensation fund was put aside to help eligible victims. Now though I am hearing that even fisherman who 'get paid in cash and have no documented tax forms can still be eligible for 6 months (per claim) based on ??? And will not be investigated by the IRS if they make a claim? So not only will the shareholders be funding the claims, but will anything be allowed now? Is the plan to truly bankrupt BP? If this is allowed, 20B will be gone in no time.
That is good, and I really think BP should be allowed to monitor the claims process. We know how easily government entities are willing to freely dole out money with little or no documentation. It happened on the gulf coast after Katrina.
