What about Halliburton cementing that blowup in Australia??? a year before??? also the blowout preventer...that did not work.....and RIG who still in denial????
This is not only BP's fault...it's a team fault???
The timing is great for Obama. He can claim that he is prosecuting the guilty, i.e. BP for the accident. Trials to begin in 2012. The news media will pick this up and you will see it every day in the news along with the fact that it is the Obama administration that is pushing the prosecution. Makes him look good for the green crowd. Domestic corporations will be left off the hook if they play along and donate to his campaign. At least that's what I think.
You have to be naive to think that companies are prosecuted for political purposes. Many times big companies are not prosecuted for political purposes. It takes some fortitude to take on the prosecution of big corporations. Don't forget that.
The US Dept of Ocean Management and the Coast Guard put the majority of the blame on BP in their Sept. report. To date, criminal charges are against BP and RIG employees.
BP is just trying to divert attention away from them, but it will catch up to them.
BP could have gain some credibility if they would have hit HAL for a fair percentage of the cost, not the whole thing.
I am pretty sure everyone expected this. It will be difficult for the government to prove BP was criminally negligent. And if they do, all of the other parties will be guilty as well.
Typical grandstanding BS by the DOJ and the current administration that shut down offshore drilling for 6 months in the GOM. These guys are pioneering this field. It would be like bringing NASA up on charges for Apollo 11 or the Challenger accident. In the current envirnment, I dont think we could duplicate the tremendous feats of the past. Thats the real crime.
BP should be able to be as irresponsible as possible!
BP should be able to:
1. Deny any and all requests by contractors because of expense without justification and responsibility.
2. Discard reports of ground anulars in the mud room from operating contractors without accountability.
3. Deny the laws of physics and remove miles of drilling fluid without sacrificing the integrity of a fracking well for miles beneath the sea so they can use up their fluid supply.
4. Socialize any and all losses to the American people who should pay BP's bill while Wall Street makes money and BP promulgates corporate propaganda without cause and slander.
