JUDGE IS PUSHING BP TO DEFEND ITS (BOGUS) CLAIM OF CONFIDENTIALITY. . "BP judge wants documents made public Houston Business Journal Date: Tuesday, March 20, 2012, 7:34am CDT
U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes wants sealed documents in the lawsuit over the safety of BP's Atlantis production platform in the Gulf of Mexico to be kept to a minimum.
BP has already filed a number of sealed documents, which the company said contain proprietary information, and Hughes has said parties should re-file key documents in order to make them public, the Houston Chronicle reports.
“It seems to me the solution is to strike those and allow the parties to re-file documents without confidential information in them,” Hughes said in a March 19 hearing, the Chronicle reports. “If there are data that one or other parties genuinely believes is essential and the other believes is genuinely proprietary, then we can have a hearing or somehow discuss it.”
Former BP contractor Kenneth Abbott brought the suit against BP in a Houston federal court, alleging Atlantis doesn't comply with safety and environmental laws." . THE JUDGE ISN'T BEING FOOLED. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF ABOUT BP.
