They will dump off whatever they have with TNK BP, get a premium on their investment. Russia is open to allow foreign exploration and BP doesn't need TNK BP. They have other options. Divesting here will meet their goals, and position as a leaner company with higher margin lower risk ventures. Any thoughts? I bought in the other day, at 37. I think this is a good position. I will continue to average down if it goes lower.
Rosnolf will buyout BP's stake probably in exchange for equity interest in Rosnolf. This basically screws the Russian tycoon partners who have been causing all the problems since Puttin won't put up with their BS.
This will clear the way for BP to start massive explorations in Russian and be Russia's strategic an preferred partner going forward!
Considering the market wasn't placing much value on the Russian partnership this can only be positive news!
Bp social responsibility is outstanding. They have spent more in the GOM more than any oil company in history related to a disaster. Which is why the government will not slap a huge fine. Although this is postponed to 2013, which is after the elections, so I doubt the next pres wants to destroy so many jobs in their first year. they want this thing to take off. I predict a settlement sometime soon. don't forget positions in libya and iraq. and a contribution of 100 a barrel
