    SPLS=no customer service.

    I keep hearing the same complaints from customers of SPLS. As a matter of fact... the funniest one I've heard so far was the answer to an employees question as follows:
    "Excuse me sir...I have a pretty new Hewlett Packard Deskjet 6L printer, where can I find a replacement cartridge?"

    Employees answer:

    "Im sorry sir ...we do not carry that model printer or service parts, It has been discontinuted a long time ago."

    Response;

    "Thats impossible....You have the printer for sale in (XYZ) section of the store in the back.

    Employee response:

    "Oh......really??"

    Customer:

    "Thank you. Goodbye!"

    END

    Not only that but anytime you want to compare a couple of new products..and I'm sure its happened to you, the products you want to try that are on display are 80% broken or entirely out of stock. Staples Store buy product from wholesalers the minute it becomes cheap in the market, and then puts it out for sale at rip off prices so you can pay top dollar for something that will be obsolete or broken in 2 weeks. They dont care...They just buy more unsold wholesale unit shipments and try to sell them also.Bottom line from what I have seen...."STAPLES IS A BAD STORE TO SHOP"

    I will take my buisness to Best Buy or CompUSA

    Dont give this company yor hard earned money. This is a bad example of a company that will grow year over year.Sell it when you can...not when you have too.

    • Sorry, Staples buys directly from the vendors...Epson, Hp & Canon......we do not buy from wholesales with the exception of software, which comes directly from Ingram Micro, a major player......

      • If I am not right ingram micro is a distro is it not. Also being a newer employee of spls having spent 4 years at omax I assume you have to be kinda careful what you post on a stock msg board and what not to post and I see topics from time to time on here that could help the stock or hurt the stock. If one posted the wrong thing on a board such as this I wonder how the law/policy on posting could be applied.

        Just my 2 cents on things no flaming needed :)

      • You have no idea what you're talking about.

        Staples buys more than $150 million worth of product from United Stationers every year. United Stationers is the largest office supply wholesaler in the world.

        It also buys from SP Richards, another major office supply wholesaler.

    • how does the saying go, "if it weren't for bad service, there would be no service at all!"

    • You, or the person telling you this amazing tale, appear to be more ignorant than the Staples employee you are chastizing! From the looks of things you (or your friend) did as much as possible to sabotage any meaningful help or customer service!

      "Excuse me sir...I have a pretty new Hewlett Packard Deskjet 6L printer,"

      Excuse me, sir, but how can anyone consider an well-over 2-year old printer anything close to new? BTW... it's a LASERjet, NOT a Deskjet, duffous!

      "where can I find a replacement cartridge?"

      Probably on a shelf together with all the other laser carts, clearly marked, in a BIG box, with 5L and 6L on its front. Why'd you have to ask anything more than, "Where are the laser cartridges?" Oh, yeah, I forgot, you're NOT really helping here, are you?

      "Im sorry sir ...we do not carry that model printer or service parts, It has been discontinuted a long time ago."

      True and true. Staples does NOT carry the model anymore - NOBODY DOES! (Maybe some refurb/liquidation outfits?) And Staples does NOT stock repair ("service") parts! Sounds like you (or your friend) are sabotaging any attempt at help, or are you just getting your kicks by playing mindgames on the poor employee?

      "Thats impossible....You have the printer for sale in (XYZ) section of the store in the back."

      Doubtful. See above.

      "Oh......really??"

      A perfectly understandable reaction. See above.

      "Not only that but anytime you want to compare ..."

      What a complete load of utter BS.

      "I will take my buisness to Best Buy or CompUSA"

      LOL! And what, pray tell, do these less-than-stellar examples of CONSUMER ELECTRONICS stores or COMPUTER boutiques have to do with Staples and its plethora of value-priced OFFICE SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT?

      I will grant you that IF the employee behaved as you suggest, they didn't do their job very well. Then again, you (or your friend?) did NOTHING to help yourself or that employee do that job, either.

      Quite possibly you, or whoever told you this wild story, represent that most very rare breed of customer Staples can live without.

      Plonk.
