Summarized translation: Samsung announced to stop making LCD TVs by H2. It will ONLY make OLED TVs after that. Since it is no.LCD TV maker and has 30% TV market worldwide, other TV mfgrs are expected to follow. It is a very good news and a potentially huge catalyst for PANL as Samsung finally layout a timetable.
FYI: Noticeable insider buying lately as well.
It would be great to believe, but I look at it rather skeptical way - pardon my Korean, but all I can see are words LED and CCFL, no OLED, so I speculate that it's rather about conversion of LCD backlight from CCFL to LED.
If somebody knows Korean, please, tell me that I am wrong - I will be glad to hear that.
The key words here are "Stop making LCD TV". If the referred LED TVs are not OLED, Samsung would say something like "all future new LCD TVs will use LED back lighting", etc. The report in Chinese is vague on that. In fact, Samsung is the first OLED TV maker. Sony is the 2nd one and both use PANL technologies. I believe Samsung has a very good chance to become the 1st mass producer of OLED tvs.
