    • Apple Should Press Delete On Phablets, iPad Maxis And Cheap Phones. Here's Why

Anyway, what Apple needs is to improve the Retina rather than, necessarily, make it bigger. The rumor mill suggests it could do that with quantum dot technology from 3M or through Sharp IGZO back panels.

A larger display? I think Apple is hamstrung on displays. Go for IGZO back panels – Samsung owns a part of Sharp and will know about it (there’s already a rumor that Samsung is preparing to launch the first IGZO tablet, for no better reason than to be first). Go for PHOLEDs and they need to negotiate with Samsung, who dominate OLED production. Go for quantum dot and Samsung is an investor in one of the key players. Apple has to do some serious innovation in displays to avoid being hog-tied by its competitors.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • Weight becomes an issue for iPhones with larger screens. Universal Display has the solution.

      • Weight.... what about power consumption. Apple's iPhone is already consuming to much too quickly. The IZGO screen drains the batteries. I have a Galaxy S3 and have no trouble having it on all day.
The S4 is probably even better. Now, with the flexible form-factor in the one year horrizon the question is whether Apple can or will do the right thing. LG and AUO are their bet .... or perhaps just building an OLED plant in the US. BUT......BUT.... Apple is a dead company. They had a chance to by Waze and move from being a lagger to being the top navigation company. So what did Apple do..... #$%$ up. They allowed Google (at some point Facebook) take it over. If Apple continues this route they will be $300 in a year . Meanwhile Samsung will start going to the 7 and 10" tablets. I can't wait to see OLED at this scale. Forget about the iPAD..... As the story unfolds PANL si the right company at the right place.
